It Always Comes Down to the Basics

Whenever I feel rusty and need to serious work on my skills, especially after a long absence, I always go back to the basics. It might be just for a few minutes to warm up before I get into actually drawing or sculpting, or it might just be doodling while waiting for class to start or traveling on the bus. (I really hate traveling on the bus) Going back to basics does help me to keep the basic skills sharp so that I can work on making more complex compositions without having to really think too much about the basic elements and how to’s while I create. It also helps me to keep in mind ways I can show others how I arrived at the point where I am in my piece, or how they can also get there.
